Type "longevity supplements" into a search engine and you'll get thousands of results, hundreds of supplements, and dozens of contradictory opinions. One article praises NAD+, the next says it's overhyped. An influencer recommends a stack of twelve capsules a day. A doctor says no research backs any of it. The truth, as usual, lies somewhere in the middle — but it takes a moment of attention to find it.
Longevity is not a trend — it's a research direction
The science of aging has undergone a fundamental shift over the last twenty years. Not long ago, aging was treated as an inevitable, programmed process. Today, more and more researchers — including Nobel laureates — treat it as a biological process that can be influenced.
In 2013, López-Otín and colleagues published a landmark paper in Cell describing the molecular mechanisms underlying cellular aging. These became the map for modern longevity research and the scientific basis for many of today's most-discussed supplements.
Fundamentals matter more than supplements
Before reaching for capsules, get the basics right. The research is unequivocal: sleep, movement, diet, and stress management have a greater impact on longevity than any substance. Longevity supplements work best as a complement to a healthy lifestyle, not as a substitute for it.
How to approach choosing supplements?
A few principles that help separate signal from noise:
Start with one substance. It's hard to judge an effect if you're taking five things at once. Give it 2–3 months and observe.
Look at the form, not just the ingredients. The same substance in liposomal form is usually absorbed far better than a standard capsule.
Check certificates. GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000 are the minimum standard for a European manufacturer.
Don't chase a revolution. Longevity is a long-term strategy. Effects are measured in months and years, not weeks.
A good starting point
For most people beginning their longevity journey, NMN or a NAD+ booster is a reasonable first step — well-studied, safe, acting on a mechanism that directly declines with age. Resveratrol as a second element is a natural complement. The rest depends on your goals. That's exactly what our "Your goal?" tool is for.
