Aging is not just wrinkles and a slower metabolism. At the cellular level, it is above all mounting oxidative stress — damage the body cannot keep up with repairing. A key role in this defense is played by glutathione, sometimes called the body's "master antioxidant." The problem: glutathione levels drop by as much as 50% between ages 20 and 70.

Why isn't supplementing glutathione alone enough?

Glutathione in capsules is poorly absorbed — it breaks down in the digestive tract before reaching the cells. A more effective strategy is to give the body the building blocks for its own production. Glycine and N-acetylcysteine (NAC) are exactly those building blocks — the amino acids from which the body synthesizes glutathione itself. Together they form GlyNAC.

What does the research say?

Research led by Dr. Prerith Sekhar at Baylor College of Medicine has produced some of the most compelling human data on GlyNAC. In a 2022 study published in the Journal of Nutrition, 16 weeks of GlyNAC supplementation in older adults improved glutathione levels, reduced oxidative stress, improved mitochondrial function and muscle strength, and lowered markers of inflammation.

Who is it for?

GlyNAC is especially interesting for people over 50, the physically active, and those who want to support cellular protection comprehensively — not through just a single biological pathway.
